In 2016, the first General Academic Strand (GAS) Stand Alone Senior High School was established within  Mariano Marcos Memorial Elementary School. FEMSHS is popularized not only by the name given but by the winning involvement into different activities made by the collaborative efforts of the students, faculty and staff as well as the support given by the stakeholders .

The school being located at the heart of the city is one of the most populous senior high schools in the schools division, with the with an enrolment of  300-400 students of the current year, organized into five sections or classes in Grade 11 and four sections or classes in Grade 12.

True to vision, mission and core values of the Department of Education, Ferdinand Edralin Marcos Senior High School stands proud to serve the Batacqueno youth to prepare them towards becoming 21st Century.

The Beauty of San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte!

               On entering the Southern approach of the Municipality of San Nicolas, Ilocos  Norte, one is greeted by the grand elegance of an ancient tower, church and convent made of bricks and lime. They lie at the heart of San Nicolas beside the place where a beautiful plaza is situated. The industrious, gentle and hospitable people of San Nicolas assure the visitors of a heartfelt friendship and welcome.
               The town of San Nicolas is located at the Central Western part of the Province of Ilocos Norte. It is bounded at the North by Laoag City and a part of Sarrat while at the East lies the main section of Sarrat and a fraction of Batac City. At the South is the Central Land of Batac City while at the West lies a part of Laoag City and the Municipality of Paoay.
It is significant that in Ilocos Norte, only San Nicolas named after a “Saint”.
               San Nicolas is relatively a small town. It is composed with 15 urban and nine rural barangays.
               The clay pot Banga became the symbol of the trade because in San Nicolas, before the Spanish government introduced  home industries like blacksmithing, calesa, cart making, pottery and others. Since then, its pottery industry has been providing the earthen ware of needs of Ilocos Norte and Cagayan even to this day. So that banga became their symbol.
               There are also a construction of a big storey completed. This is the only Mall in the Ilocos Norte, the Robinsons Place were many people came here just to be refreshed and to be relaxing.
The town of San Nicolas takes pride in its rich historical past. It invites you to come and visit the place. There is no place like San Nicolas!
